An introduction to hot glass sculpting
Come for a days Lampworking with Elizabeth at her Studio in Angmering, West Sussex.
In this class you will be working with Borosilicate glass, learning the basics of sculpting on an oxygen-propane torch.
Beginning with basic pendants and moving of to more sculptural techniques we will make a range of aquatic creatures.
Plan on having alot of fun on this day class
The day will begin with everything you need to know about equipment, health and safety, materials and suppliers. We will then move on to some basic shaping of the clear glass, then some colour work. Basic equipment and most importantly specially coated safety glasses are provided. These glasses have the addition of a welder shade #3 for additional brightness reduction which offer Sodium Flare, UV, and IR protection.
Once you have a good understanding of how the glass moves we can play with some more complex glass techniques. Please bring a camera, pen and note pad if you wish.
All glass used during your day will be annealed over night and available to you to collect the following day alternately I can send your pieces to you in the post.
Costs for a beginner day session are £170, for a two day class is £320.
Classes start at 10am and run until 4 or 5pm depending on how you are feeling by the end of the day! Tea and biscuits are included but please bring your own lunch. We have a fridge and reheating facilities available for you to use.
As all classes are private, they do not run on specific dates – just send an email or call with your desired date to check availability.
Once a date has been agreed, you can pay for your class by sending me a deposit cheque and pay the balance on the day.
Classes are held at Mettle Studios, Roundstone Bypass, Angmering, BN16 4BD.
